Modern Kitchen Cabinet Designs

More and more people are trading up their traditional themed kitchens for something more modern. One of the best things about using a modern theme is that it allows you to be more versatile and to explore more options. It is also the best way to make your kitchen look more unique and one of a kind.

Obviously the best place to start remodeling and upgrading are the cabinets. You will find it is much easier and cheaper to change out the cabinets before you start replacing your old appliances, flooring, and countertops. When choosing the perfect modern kitchen cabinet design you have to think about what colors you would like to use and what materials you will want to use.

Colors

The majority of kitchens in America have nothing but dark and light wood cabinets in their kitchens. It’s up to you to change things up and try something completely different and bold. The purpose of the modern kitchen is to stand out in a dramatic way. The best and most drastic colors to use are white and black. Do not combine the colors in anyway or with any other color. When they stand alone they become dramatic and will help the kitchen to stand out more.

White is used more often when people love to keep things impeccably clean and want to show people that they do. If you are the type of person who doesn’t always have the time or energy to wipe down your cabinets every day or once a week than white is not for you. They look great – but every stain and spot will show up and without daily cleaning they will look dingy fast.

Black is a very bold color and is more versatile. This allows you to use almost any type of kitchen flooring and appliances that you will wish to put in your new kitchen. They are also much easier to keep clean.

Style And Materials

Although modern kitchen cabinets are made to be dramatic they are also made to be very simple at the same time. Most of the modern cabinet designs have very defined edges and corners. They do not have any type of etching, grooves, or patterns on the surface of them. They are clean cut and the handles are very simple and straightforward to match this look.

The last thing you need to consider when designing modern kitchen cabinets is the material you wish to use to make them. Nothing says modern like stainless steel! People love the look of stainless steel and we will admit that it has many advantages. It is easy to clean, looks great with your stainless steel appliances, and creates the perfect modern kitchen. The only disadvantage is that they are some of the more expensive materials to use.

Wood is considered to be used on the more traditional cabinet designs – but when designed properly it can be used for modern cabinets. You can choose this in both light and dark just make sure that they do not have any etchings in them. Wood materials can be expensive unless you use laminate – which is a type of wood substitute.

Glass is another common material that works great on modern cabinets and can be edged with stainless steel or wood. When using glass cabinet doors you help to add more character to the kitchen without sacrificing the modern design.
