One of the biggest problems that we have with our kitchen cabinets is trying to keep them clean. They are in one of the busiest parts of our home and are subjected to food stains, grease, and dust.
All of these things will pile up on top of each other and unless we clean them on a regular basis they will begin to look old and worn out before their time. If you do not want to spend the money that is required to change out and design new kitchen cabinets than you need to know how to properly care for them.
In order to clean the cabinets you will need an all purpose cleaner, bucket, rag, and a wood oil. You should only have to clean the surface of each cabinet thoroughly once a week. During the week when you are cooking you can simply clean any spots that you make when food splatters on to it.
The first thing that you will need to do is use an old rag to wipe the dust off of it. By removing the dust you are going to make it easier to clean off any stains without getting your water and sponge dirty too quickly.
When the dust has been removed you will need to pour the all purpose cleaner into a bucket full of warm water. Use a separate rag or soft sponge to wash off any grease or food stains on the surface of the cabinet. Even if you do not see any give it a thorough wash that will disinfect any germs.
Allow them to air dry or use a clean towel to dry them off. When they are dry you need to pour a small amount of wood oil and combine it with warm water. This should only be used on wood kitchen cabinets to help them shine. Use a liberal amount and allow them to air dry.
