Donating Kitchen Cabinets

Remodeling the kitchen is something that can take weeks or even months depending on the amount of changes you will be making. One of the biggest things that people will do is to pull out their old cabinets and install new ones. When this happens what are you to do with the old ones? Why not donate them!

Look closely at the cabinets that are in your kitchen to see what kind of shape they are in. a few dents and chipped paint is not that bad and can be easily remedied by whoever picks them up. It is best to keep everything that matches together. Most charities won’t accept them unless they all match. Anything with missing doors and drawers is not going to be accepted.

There are different organizations that will take these from you. One of the most popular is Habitat For Humanity. They help to build new homes for people who lost theirs during a natural disaster or for other purposes. This organization will take the cabinets out of your kitchen for you so you don’t have to find something large enough to haul them away in.

You could also put the cabinets on Craigslist or other sites like Freecycle. This will put out a notice for people in your area or possible charities. Just make sure you take pictures of them and that the people know they have to be the ones to take them out. You can leave the cabinets by the side of the road on the day they will pick them up so you don’t let strangers into your home.

Try to wipe down the cabinets so they aren’t filthy when they are picked up. You don’t have to do a thorough scrubbing. Just enough to make them look presentable.
